Background

A giraffe found a confession, and no one knows where it came from. It is as white as ordinary paper, and its slight wrinkles reveal the breath of life, but this forms a contrast with the state-less lament behind it. It is like a witch's grief seed, calling out words of anxiety and anger while breathing out emotions of numbness and helplessness. Who wrote it?

What do survival and freedom mean?

Christians would say that the creation of life is the supreme good. Existentialists would say that man is born condemned to be free.

But I do not think so—my life has been a betrayal since birth. Two possibilities reside in my body at the same time; ordinary people call it "intersex."

If survival is the free choice of my possibilities, why can I not make a choice among the most innate possibilities? I am everywhere in chains, and these chains are heavier than ordinary people can imagine. The eyes of my parents and society have always given me a heavy gaze; it is a discipline like prison surveillance, and I am a prisoner confined to a few square feet of a cell under surveillance. Whenever I stand at a crossroads, an angel and a devil stand on each side, warning me that this is just a weighing on the scales.

I am not free. The last feeling of being deprived of freedom is still shocking; it was the day I entered prison.

Although I had a premonition, the appearance of those three people still made me instinctively afraid. I have resisted too much, committed too many crimes, and exhausted too much energy in arguments with my mom and dad. On the day the judgment came, I sent the final signal with my watch, and then sank into silence.

I sank into silence and could no longer speak, because the freedom to speak does not belong to me either. Does it belong to the teacher guarding me? The parents monitoring me? Or the person investigating me? I don't know, but I know that I am just a mime. Hotspots that have reached the traffic limit cannot be connected, and enthusiastic people outside want to establish a connection with me, but I find it difficult to give any response. Who outside the network knows if I am still surviving?

I am probably still surviving, and surviving quite well. I survive as a puppet under this corrective education, and I survive as a mime in photos of me eating. I survive in the network as the protagonist of events, and I survive in my parents' thoughts as a childish child. I survive in the present as a dignified girl, and I will survive in the future as a defined boy.

What do survival and freedom mean?
